Fire Damage Restoration
-
Fire is without question one of the most devastating disasters that can occur in
life. A really serious fire will completely destroy everything in its
path. Even a small fire can be devastating to normal daily life, and the
effects on the people and property involved can be quite far reaching.
Inevitably some property, however large or small, will almost certainly be
completely destroyed.
-
What
might not be realised, though, is that smoke and soot from fires is equally
harmful, not just to humans, but to anything that lies in its wake. In
most fires the damage caused by smoke is likely to exceed the damage caused by
flames. And it is far reaching. It
blackens your personal property, clothing, furniture, toys, the inside of
cupboards, wardrobes, cabinets and drawers. Its odour is a lasting reminder of
the heat, flames and soot, which wreaks its havoc while travelling through the
home or workplace.
-
Electrical items do not escape from
this havoc.
The
heat forces the soot and smoke residue into the very heart of such things as
televisions, computers, printers, in fact everything you can think of. And
as if all of that is not enough, the water used to extinguish the flames
obviously does its fair share of damage as well.
-
Once contaminated, unless soot/smoke residue is removed, and quickly, it will
react with the atmosphere and become corrosive, eating away at components with
fatal consequences.
-
But if swift action is taken and the affected goods are removed from site into
our workshop we at restronics can
prevent such damage from occurring and save your property.
-
Every item that comes in to restronics
is first assessed for viability and an itemised estimate is produced.
-
If
the cleaning process of an item is deemed to be likely to be more than its
replacement cost this is stated on our estimate as being beyond economical
repair (BER)
-
The completed estimate/inventory is then sent or faxed to the instructing party,
be that a householder, a company, a policyholder or his/her representative, a
Loss Adjuster or an Insurance Company.
-
Restoration only takes place it if is deemed to be cost effective and only after
our estimate/inventory has been accepted and approved by the instructing party
and we are given authorisation to proceed with the work.
-
Once restoration is completed, given a final safety check before being wrapped
and packaged for return.
-
If
the premises where the fire occurred are not fit for items to be returned then
restronics will hold goods in storage
in controlled conditions until return is requested.
-
Flood Damage Restoration
-
Flood damage can be caused by all manner of
disasters - a burst tank, split pipes, overflowing washing machines, rising
rivers, adverse weather conditions, frost damage, fire-fighting water,
unfavourable atmospheric conditions, such as high humidity.... you name it!
-
And the effect on electrical devices??
Most people assume that water ingress means instant death to anything electrical.
That is not necessarily the case.
-
BUT we are all, or should be, aware that any electrical item that has been
subjected to wetting must in no way be connected to any source of power supply,
as doing so could be fatal to the ill-advised person who tries to do so.
Water and live electricity just do not mix!
-
However that doesn't mean that the life of a water damaged appliance or piece of
equipment is at an end. Its life can be saved. But this takes
specialist knowledge and experience.
-
restronics has that knowledge and
experience. restronics can
safely restore water damaged electrical items to good health.
-
Swift action is the key. The longer an items stays wet the less likely it
is that restoration can be achieved. Even if 'standing' water has 'drained
away' the corrosive effect of the dampness that remains is devastating to
electrical components.
-
If swift and safe* action is taken and the affected goods are
removed from site into our workshop we at
restronics
can prevent such damage from occurring and save your property.
-
*NEVER ATTEMPT TO DISCONNECT OR UNPLUG
ELECTRICAL ITEMS UNLESS IT IS COMPLETELY SAFE TO DO SO

The effects of a fire or a flood can be devastating to paper, that goes without
saying. However, unless something has been totally burnt or is reduced to
pulp, it is possible in many cases to restore books, documents and paper
avoiding the need to throw away or replace. Indeed some items are
irreplaceable because they have sentimental value and restoration could well be
the answer.
-
We ourselves do not undertake work on these items, but we do have good working
relationships with well known and respected companies with the expertise to dry
out books and documents after flood/water damage.

Data Recovery
-
Even if computer equipment is badly damaged by fire or flood it does not
necessarily mean that files are lost for ever. It is very often possible
to retrieve information held on hard drives.

We ourselves do not undertake this work but we do have good working
relationships with well known and respected companies with the required
expertise
to retrieve information

Minor Repairs

Annual safety checks
-
The Electricity at Work Regulations (1989) require that employers, employees and
the self employed alike have a duty of care to ensure the safety of portable
electrical equipment used in the workplace. However, electrical testing
should only be performed by a competent person who is trained in the safe use of
test equipment and, where necessary, dismantling it to check the cable
connections. We can provide this expertise for you.

resulting in the loss of use of the computer. Would your business suffer
